About Christina (She/Her):

Christina (She/Her), and is from Delano, CA. She is currently in her third year at Long Beach State University studying Health Science, with a concentration in Community Health. With her degree, she hopes to enter the field of healthcare management or psychological services. Such experience she holds within these subjects include multiple college-level psychology and healthcare-related courses, as well as being an avid mental health and healthcare advocate. As someone living with a congenital health disease, her unique experiences also contribute greatly to her motivation in pursuing the field of healthcare.

Webinar Description:

The purpose of this webinar is to discuss how various barriers to access to mental health services negatively affect the residents within Kern County of the Central Valley. With an emphasis on cultural and social barriers, Christina will also take into account the diverse identities of the population. A distribution of surveys and a series of follow up interviews with participants further recognizes that there lies a general lack of knowledge of mental health resources in their community. Collaborations with local community organizations and mental health professionals also reveals what methods work best when combating these barriers.
