Board Member

Melinda Pilling (she/her) grew up in rural Tulare County. After dropping out of high school, she attended Antioch College in Ohio, where she earned a B.A. in Philosophy, and the University of Chicago, where she earned an M.A. in South Asian Languages and Civilizations. In her late twenties, with two young children, she attended the UC Berkeley School of Law, graduating in 2009. Since then, Melinda has practiced in the areas of immigration, employment, and environmental law and served as a law clerk to several federal judges. She now works at the California Supreme Court, where she manages a team of attorneys and helps write judicial opinions.
