Event Description:
EECU (Educational Employees Credit Union) Money Wise presentation gives students insight on the essentials of building a healthy financial future. Students will learn the importance of having financial goals, the difference between banks and credit unions, debit and credit cards, and the importance of credit. Students will also get some insight on budgeting for college life and potential scholarships. This presentation also includes a short interaction activity that teaches how to calculate and balance an account.
About The Speaker:Â
Noemi Valenzuela (She/Her) is an EECU Community Relations Officer with more than 15 years of experience in the financial industry. She was raised in a migrant farm-working family and the first in her family to earn a degree. She graduated from Fresno State with a B.A. in Media, Communications & Journalism degree with an emphasis in Public Relations and is pursuing a degree in school counseling. She enjoys camping at the beach with family, is an active part of her children’s academics and has a passion for encouraging other first-generation students in the adventure of pursuing a post-secondary education.
