About Robert (He/Him):
Robert (he/him) is from Fresno, CA, and currently attends California State University, Fresno where he is pursuing a bachelor's degree in psychology. Robert's project idea includes examining the awareness and accessibility of PreP medication amongst queer men, transgender women, and gender non-binary folks in Fresno County. Robert’s interest in his project idea comes from being a queer person living in the Central Valley and being a peer sexual health educator. At the moment, Robert does not have a definite career aspiration. He does know that he wants to work in community health, specifically mental health, whether it be through direct patient care and/or policy work.
Webinar Description:
Robert will discuss what led to his interest in examining the accessibility and awareness of PrEP in Fresno County. He will highlight the significance of PrEP as a harm reduction strategy among queer individuals whose sexual behaviors put them at risk of contracting HIV. Robert will also discuss the results of his survey, highlighting the reasons why respondents were not on PrEP. Finally, based on the responses of his survey, Robert will address the role of community-based organizations to fill the gaps in HIV prevention.
