Listed below you'll find the recording and slides of our 2022 Law School Webinar.

About The Webinar

The Central Valley Scholars’ 2022 Law School Webinar was co-hosted by the Associate Director of Admissions at UC Berkeley Law, Joseph Lindsay (He/Him/His), and Mayra Espinoza-Martinez (She/Her/Hers), a CVS Board Member and incoming student at Harvard Law. This webinar covered the law school experience from the perspective of a Central Valley student, strategizing for the LSAT, navigating the application process, financial aid, and how to select a school after receiving offers.

About The Speakers

Mayra Espinoza-Martinez was born and raised in Visalia, CA, and uses she/her/ella pronouns. She graduated from Mt. Whitney High School in 2012, from Harvard University in 2016, and will be attending Harvard Law School. She is a first-generation college student and the first person in her immediate and extended family to attend law school. Mayra joined Central Valley Scholars with the hope of helping Central Valley youth recognize and leverage the power inherent in their stories.

Joseph Lindsay (he/him) is the Associate Director of Admissions and Scholarship Programs at Berkeley Law. Joseph previously served as the Director of Financial Aid at Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at Arizona State for 10+ years, and most recently as an Admissions Coordinator at Texas A&M University School of Law in the Office of Admissions. In years past, he was an instructor for Future Sun Devils Program and ASU’s Upward Bound Program for first-generation and/or low-income college-bound students. He currently serves as a facilitator for the Pathways to Law Program for Native Students and he is the incoming Co-Chair for Berkeley's Native American Staff Council. Joseph attended Arizona State University and is originally from the Colorado River Indian Tribes Reservation in Parker, Arizona.
